1942  This "land of the midnight sun" is larger than Canada's Prairie Provinces put together but there is hardly a person on it.
1966  North of the 60th parallel is "The Land of the Midnight Sun." Days are long and nights short in summer and temperatures range from about a low of 40 degrees at night to 80 or even 90 on some days.
